Lesson TIME!

Tomorrow my group assignment is due. We have all researched our parts well and our information is accurate. I hope everything goes as rehearsed.

My very last blog

I am so relieved that i have finally finished my science assignment completely. i finished my group  evaluation scaffold. I also emailed three attachments to my teacher. These were the worksheet, the Powerpoint Presentation and a copy of my speech. The assignmnet is due today and i have have already submitted it completely. YAAY!!

Circulatory system

This is the video that helped me understand how the circulatory system functions. I will also be using this as part of my presentation.

Group Evaluation Scaffold

• What role(s) did you take on for this assignment? I wasn't officially the leader, however I did sort of take on he role for one. I put together the individual PowerPoint and had an equal contribution to the worksheet. I also completed my allocated section.

• What did you like about working as a group? I liked the fact that the task was divided equally instead of one person doing all the work. I also liked that fact that we all met the set deadlines as a group.

• What was difficult about working as a group? The fact that on almost ALL of our allocated class lessons someone just had to be away. Also that it was a bit hard to decide what would go on the worksheet and what wouldn't. And who would answer which question.

• What did you learn about working as a group? Organisation of time is extremely important and that everything should be divided equally amongst all the group members. Otherwise one person is left to do all the work and as a result stresses too much without even getting all the credit which they deserve.

• How well did you work together/ cooperatively? My group worked really well together. There were not many arguments on anything and we all completed our parts before the deadline. The only worry that was our entire group was only once present in our class lesson.

• Did everyone contribute equally and enthusiastically? Yes everyone definitely worked both equally and enthusiastically as our individual questions were divided equally and the work was done earlier that deadline which shows the enthusiasm.

• How well as an individual did you work as part of the group? I personally think that I worked extremely well as an individual in the group. This is because i completed my part and even put together the PowerPoint presentation. I also did half of the worksheet's answers.

• Identify your strengths and weaknesses as a group member. Strengths: i worked effectively and completed my part on time. I made sure that everything was divided equally and that everybody was happy with all our group decisions. Weaknesses: I may have been a bit bossy at times. The group members may have thought i was a bit pushy for re-enforcing the deadline for the task.

• Outline suggestions to improve your approach to group. I could make sure that everyone is TRULY happy with the decisions and help others more out so that i won't need to keep mentioning the deadline and stressing about it. I could also try being a bit less bossy.

Lucky!

Today Kyara's USB snapped in half and all her assignments were on it! Luckily though her science assignment was saved on her student drive which meant that was one assignment she didn't have to worry about re-doing!

We also decided that our times didn't matter that much because Mrs. Manollaras told us that we did not HAVE to be 10 minutes or under and that a little bit over would do. I just hope i am not TOO overtime though. I hope everything goes well and that our presentation is informative and comprehensible.

Nearly FINISHED!

Today we checked our worksheet answers FULLY and everybody emailed to me their powerpoint presentations which I have put together aswell. We will be emailing the worksheet teacher's copy, our individual speeches and attach the powerpoint to Mrs. Manollaras. I am really happy we did not require an extra lunchtime meeting today. I hope evreything goes well next week Monday when my group will be presenting.

Home - work

Today at home i finished the answers for the worksheet. I have made a plan for tomorrow's group meeting. First we will all go to our lockers and collect our lunch and usbs. We will then meet up at the library. We will get a laptop and go through the presentation with a stopwatch running. Hopefully the time is under ten minutes. The only sad part though is that tomorrow is CHOC ITALIA day and i was really looking forward to having my lasagne and cake. However if we are able to go through the presentation quickly at recess it would be really helpful. I hope everything goes well and the timing is fine.

The last research lesson

Today was our final research lesson for science. Once again my group members and i went for TM during lunchtime and gave a miss to our science meeting. We have decided that we will meet up tomorrow at lunchtime in the library and go through the final touches to make up for the missed group meetings. Sadly all the seminar rooms are booked out though. The worksheet has been FULLY editted now and the answers for it have been half completed. I have asked the gorup members to email to me their own powerpoint presentation so that i can put them all together to create one. I am glad i don't need to cut out any parts of my speech and look forward to tomorrow's group meeting.

A very bad day

Today another class had booked the laptops so we did not have a research lesson. Sadly, my technology teacher kept the classroom open all lunch today and will be keeping it open all lunch tomorrow. All of my group members really need this extra time to finish their boxes. This means we will miss out on both of our group meetings. 

However Mrs. Manollaras said that even though my speech was 45 seconds overtime it was okay and that I do not need to cut down on anything extra. This is a relief. 

There is a science lesson tomorrow period one. I plan on using this lesson time very wisely and to make the final touches on our group presentation as today was our group deadline. I hope that no one is absent tomorrow and that everything goes well.

Sunday part 2

Just now I timed myself reading out my speech and came to find that my individual presentation was overtime! My planning was wrong  and has now lead to a major problem! Two lessons ago, we, as a group divided the 10 minutes into 4 parts. My part is only 2 minutes, when I timed my self I found that I talked for 2:45. This is 45 seconds OVERTIME! I am extremely worried and do not know what I should cut out. I am considering not showing the video to the class and explaining what the video says, except in my own words. If I don't do this I don't know what else I could do to cut down 45 additional seconds. I will discuss this matter with my group members tomorrow at lunchtime at our group meeting. My most probable option is to miss out on the video. As well as discussing this matter with my group I will also consult the teacher about what her thoughts are about this. I am worried but hope for the best. I look forward to tomorrow's meeting and hope that there are no more problems than there already are!

Sunday

Today I finished writing out my palm cards for my speech today!! I am very excited about my group meeting tomorrow and I hope it gos well.

Research is OVER

Today I have finally completed ALL of my research. I am very proud of myself as I have also begun rephrasing the work. I will complete the rewording tomorrow and hope to finish it. Also to print out the palm cards for my speech. The work sheet has needed some changes which have been made aswell. I think I have worked very productively this week and hope to continue this.

The 20th of August

Today Diane and Naomi were away. Once again the entire group was not present. I just hope that for my group's sake at our monday meeting, everyone has completed their part otherwise I will be very upset and angry. It is also becoming much of a problem that my group is never together at once so I hope that Monday and Tuesday help us discuss things as a whole group and that nobody is absent on those days.

Today Kyara and I decided exactly what we were going to have on the worksheet and started on the powerpoint. I am very pleased with the amount of work we got done. I have nearly finished my research. After i have though, i will just have to paraphrase the research and print out the palm cards for it. Also prinout the worksheets. Mrs. Manollaras told us that there are 29 students in our class. This means that three people will have to prinout 7 sheets each (70cents each) and one person will have to print out 8 sheets (80 cents). Since our worksheet is done though that is one worry out of the way.

I hope to finish my palmcards by Sunday so that i am prepared for my Monday group meeting in the seminar room.

Problems

Today naomi was at a carnival and was away to class. The lesson was a research lesson in the library so i got alot of research done. I also booked the seminar rooms for next monday but i coud not book it for wednesday as it was booked out so instead i booked it for tuesday lunchtime . Diane was away on the day we got the assignment, diane and kyara were away on the third lesson and naomi was at a carnival today! It's just a  little bit annoying that there has only been one lesson when all my group members were there and we only got a little bit of work done that day. I just hope that our teching lesson goes well.
 Anyways, today during class we decided that we would each have our own palmcards for our own part and allocated talking times for each person; Diane has 1:30, i have 3mins, Naomi has 3mins and Kyara has 2:30. This adds up to a total of 10 minutes. It also means Diane will be speaking the least. However, Diane is in charge of putting together all our individual powerpoints and the sheet. Each of us will make an activity for the worksheet based on the topic we spoke about then on wednesday diane will put together the individual powerpoints and make our activities into a sheet. I hope everybody has their research and activity completed by monday next week because that is our group deadline.

The 16th of August

Today in science class kyara and diane were absent, which left me and naomi to research. We divided the 7 questions mentioned on the assignment sheet into 4 parts : my part, naomi's part, diane's part and kyara's part. Diane will be introducing our topic and explaining the circulatory system's function she will also be completeing her part on the worksheet. I will be explaining which body parts make up the system and hiw it works. Naomi will be stting bad habbits and their symptoms. Kyara will be saying good habbits and the branch of medicine that deals with the circulatory system.

For the next one week we will each research our component of the assignment. On monday the 23rd of August we will have a group meeting in the library where we will present our own information to the rest of the group. We will then make any changes needed on the sheet and finish it off. Then on Wednesday 25th august we will put together all our individual powerpoints or whatever we decide to use to present our information on, then present it together as a group and make any final touches before thursday.

Second Group Meeting

On friday 5th August, Mrs. Manollaras was away however we still continued our  group work. Throughout the lesson, Diane and Naomi were researching the circulatory system using the laptops whilst Chiara R and I were discussing and beginning to create the setout of how we would set out and present our information on the circulatory system. So far we have two pages full of information and have decided our template. I look forward to making our presentationas a group.

My Group members

Today, we all found out our group members and the body system our group would be researching. My group members are Chiara Regis, Naomi Reynolds and Diane Isagon. My gorup will be teaching the class about the circulatory system. I am extremely excited about actually beginning my research and i look forward to completing the task. Will keep you posted about any more progress on my research about the circulatory system.

Class Discussion

Today, Mrs. Manollaras explained what we were required to do and how we would complete our assignment. She told us that we would be working in groups and that they would be allocated to us. Also that the task was to prepare a 'lesson' for the class on our (the group's) allocated body system. We also went through the marking criteria and what we were required to do in order to achieve a high mark She also ansered any questions the students had. I look forward to fonding out who is in my group and which body sytem my group is given. I will keep you updated on any new occurances.
